Trusting the Unknown: Practical Approaches to Uncertainty in Generative AI

Generative AI
Generative AI systems are remarkably good at producing fluent answers—even when those answers are wrong. This overconfidence creates a critical challenge: how can we measure and communicate uncertainty in GenAI outputs? In this talk, we will explore the key ideas and practical approaches for quantifying uncertainty in large language models and generative systems. We’ll look at a range of strategies—such as probability signals, sampling, verification, and grounding—and discuss their strengths and trade-offs. Through real-world examples, from classification tasks to AI agents, we’ll show how uncertainty estimation can improve trust, guide human-AI collaboration, and enable safer deployments in high-stakes domains.

How To Teach Your AI Football? An Argument for Event Sourcing

Technical talk
Beginner to Intermediate
We don’t watch sports just for the final score. We watch for the drama that unfolds in every pass, every sprint, every gasp from the crowd. We don’t watch the statistics. We watch the game, the tension, the turning points. Now imagine asking your LLM to replay that game. With only the statistics, it might give you the skeleton. With the commentary transcript, it can start to breathe life into it: the roar after a goal, the hush before a penalty, the sudden shift in momentum. As analysts, we are storytellers. Event sourcing is how we make the data tell the whole story.

From Insight to Oversight: AI-Driven Power BI Monitoring using REST API integration

Power BI has become a cornerstone of enterprise analytics, enabling self-service reporting, real-time insights, and agile decision-making. Yet as organizations scale to hundreds or thousands of reports, datasets, and users, they face growing challenges: sustaining performance, ensuring governance, managing costs, and keeping analytics aligned with business priorities. Without structured oversight, even the most advanced analytics environment can become cluttered, inefficient, and less trusted by decision-makers. This session presents a strategic, AI-enhanced framework for monitoring and managing Power BI environments. By combining the Power BI REST API and AI models together with modern Azure services, organizations can transform raw usage data, metadata, and report lineage into actionable insights that drive better decisions. AI techniques play a key role in spotting unusual usage patterns, predicting future demand, and highlighting potential risks before they escalate empowering teams to act early rather than react to problems after the fact. Through real-world examples, I will show how this approach improves operational efficiency, strengthens governance, and optimizes both capacity and licensing. Attendees will leave with a clear vision of how to establish scalable, intelligent monitoring practices that protect their investment in Power BI, build user trust and create a culture of continuous improvement in analytics.

Adopting Generative AI Capabilities Into the Enterprise

AI Strategy
Transformational talk
Intermediate
Generative AI presents tremendous opportunities, but most companies are trapped in the research cycle. We are faced with a change management conundrum like never before. Jim draws on lessons from the computer revolution, digital transformation, the mobile revolution, and Robotic Process Automation, to deliver a rational roadmap for the adoption of generative AI capabilities. It’s a transformation blueprint from executive alignment to measuring the impact of new projects. Forming an AI Council, setting policies and guidelines, rolling out training, and new ways to measure the business value of new projects will set you up to successfully integrate generative AI into your processes, products, and services. You will take home a formal step-by-step plan for GenAI adoption You will be prepared to participate in your organization’s transformation You will be able to help those around you manage their fears and mitigate risk

Everyone says data doesn’t lie — but turning data into real business value requires more than setting up AI agents, dashboards and KPIs. This talk explores how organizations can move beyond simply collecting insights to building a culture where data truly drives decisions, shapes behavior, and pays off in measurable impact. We’ll share lessons, challenges, and practical steps to shift mindsets, bridge the gap between data and people, and unlock the real return on data.
