We demonstrated that deep contextual language models trained on high-throughput affinity data can quantitatively predict binding of unseen antibody sequence variants. We hypothesized that artificial intelligence (AI) models based on deep neural networks could learn the mapping between variants of a biological sequence (such as an antibody) and quantitative readouts (such as binding affinity) from experimental data. With this capability, AI models could be used to simulate experiments in silico for novel sequences, thereby accessing more variants with improved properties at a lower cost.

Enhancing Medical Research through Synthetic Data Generation
Drug and Clinical Research Analytics
Recently, machine learning has been applied to various problems in medicine. There have been many great results, but still a lot of unsolved problems and issues remain. One of the largest roadblocks currently is the lack of large datasets as well as the inability to share existing data due to privacy concerns. For these reasons, synthetic data generation using generative modeling techniques is a very important research area in this field. In this talk, we will give an overview of the different data modalities used in medicine and go over the state of the art generative models for such data, highlighting successful applications on biomedical data. Finally, we will go through a case study of our recent research project, where we succesfully created a synthetic dataset for a dataset containing clinical and peptide data for heart failure patients.

Deploying a startup AI SaaS Platform in a Fortune 500 company: experience from the front line
Healthcare Business Transformation
Panel with the solution provider and the client, Transformational talk
Intermediate to Advanced
How can a startup successfully deploy an B2B SaaS (Software as a Service) product in a Fortune 500 company? I will share some experiences from the “front lines” of deploying our award winning, AI-powered data platform OctoPi for sales teams in Pharma. The key message is that the technical excellence is of course essential, but not enough. We share our three ‘secrets’ to succeed: 1) Make sure there is a measurable positive impact to the business, 2) Find a way to deploy quickly (hacks allowed and recommended!), and 3) Manage your customer (rather than the other way around). Join the talk to learn how!

How to cure a cold, and how to live forever: Large Language Models and human medical knowledge
Healthcare Business Transformation
Transformational talk
Beginner to Intermediate
It has always been difficult to get reliable, relevant and scientifically backed up answers to medical questions, from the most basic (“Should I take antibiotics for this cold?”) to the most profound (“If we cure DNA telomere shortening, will we live forever?”). Is AI and in particular Large Language Model revolution the answer?
In this talk I will review various approaches to synthesize human medical knowledge, from statistics and advanced analytics, to accuracy and performance of the latest LLMs. I will then suggest a vision for the future.

Beyond the Balance Sheet: Transactional Data as a Window to Company Health
Fintech
Finspot Technologies, through its lending business, realized that analyzing companies, especially young and small ones, requires a more real-time approach. This is why we turned towards analysis of daily-generated data by these companies, specifically their daily transactions. Connecting this data that is present in abundance, with more slowly-changing data like year-end financials, provides much more insight into a company’s financial health.
The result is a tool called Heartbeat, that applies heuristics and ML algorithms to an order of 50TB of data, to provide the analyst with an almost real-time insight into the company’s wellbeing.
